Buddy of the Month

SURVIVOR BUDDY

Hi, I’m the Survivor Buddy! I’m a special Buddy for men and women with breast cancer. I come not only to comfort adults but also to educate their children, grandchildren and family members about changes which will happen to their bodies.

I come with thinning hair from chemotherapy, a mastectomy scar, port and a scarf for my head. A big pink ribbon is attached to my gown to support breast cancer awareness.

Ostomy Buddy

Hi, I’m the Ostomy Buddy! I joined the Shadow Buddies Foundation to be a teaching tool for healthcare professionals and a friend for your child who’s “just like me.” Learning to live with an ostomy can be tricky at first, but your child or loved one can quickly begin to adapt – with my help! I provide comfort and confidence, whether it’s learning how to change their bag or just knowing that others have ostomies too. I’m also here to chase away fears and worries about living with a childhood disability or illness.

I have a stoma with a detachable pouch and I’ll come individually packaged with a brightly colored gown, heart-shaped eyes for love, and a great big smile! I’m more than just an ostomy doll—I’m a cuddly friend just like them.

First Responder Buddy

  • I am one of the five newest members in the Shadow Buddies family and part of the Courageous Crew. As a Paramedic and First Responder Buddy, I have special training and one of the first to arrive and provide assistance at the scene of an emergency or accident. Part of my job is to help keep you calm and provide pre-hospital care in times of medical emergencies.
